So what's your pea's favorite food? Also, what do they not like and is there anything that they shouldn't be given?

Favorite treats vary from bird to bird. My peacock Alto really loves tomatoes.

All of them love cat food. Cat food is a good treat because it gives them protein.

Here is a list of treats that my peafowl love: http://www.bamboopeacock.com/Treats_for_Peafowl.html

Many people go by the list for parrots as far as what not to give them. Thus people say not to give them avocado. I have given them avocado (not knowing it was bad) and they didn't eat it. Peafowl seem to really know what they can and cannot eat. I have seen mine eat poisonous plants and be fine. They really seem to know what is okay to eat and what is not.

I feed mine leftover food too like brown rice, etc as treats.

Mine really love super worms. They love them so much the small hen will jump up on my lap to get them. Both my old and young hens will eat them out of my hand. They also love water melon, Malunggay, and fern greens that I can buy at the farmers market here in the Philippines.

Aww mine do this also.

You do know that that is a pretty young peacock on your knee not a hen right?

The one on the right is my 2 year old hen that has been laying the eggs. The one on the left is the 5 month old baby "hen" I thought. They both look alike to me. But I am new at this and could be wrong.

In this picture, the 2 year old hen is on the left, and the 5 month old is on the right. How can you guys and girls tell from the picture, not being funny or mean. How can you tell cock or hen, What specifically are you looking for or at? I also noticed that both of the "hens" do not have the spur as the cock does. At what age does this start to show?

Hens loose their barring on their top feathers as they get older but peacocks will grow feathers with nothing but barring in the IB varites .
