do you like geese? anyone can answer you don't have to own any geese

I have 2 African Geese and I love them a ton but a lot of people don't because their mean or something.If you like geese put a :) if you don't put a :( and say why you do or don't like them.I just want to see how many people like or don't like them and why?You don't have to own geese to place an opinion just place your opinion by any experiences with geese that you've had.

I don't have geese, but i've met a ton and a really do like them. I like how they are bigger than ducks and chickens so you can "interact' with them more. None of the ones i've met were very aggressive with me, but shrug...



Also, I have a question for you. Are african geese loud, and do they need a big pond or something? I might be interested in getting a few
 
:) I love my geese and I like them because their loyal to me and the flock and they can live a very long time.Its also very pretty to see them swim.
 
African Geese are very loud I can here them from very far away but they love to talk with you and whenever I say something they honk back.They don't need a pond or water to swim in at all a little kiddie pool would make them very happy though.I just have a little trough they swim in sometimes I want to get a kiddie pool though so it's easier to get into for them.

No Im not keen on geese. When we were kids there were some round at my best friend farm and they were guard geese. They were evil and as soon as they spotted you they would chase and attack. I think they recognised the fear which made it worse and the more we ran the more they chased. That is Inprinted on me now and the two round the farm now still run and flap behind me.
 
Yeah when I was younger a Chinese goose chased me an since I was small the goose seemed really scary but I decided I would take on the challenge to own some and they turned out to be really nice to me but they don't like strangers at all they honk chase and bite but there loyalty never ends I'm still mom and they still are sweet and they definitely recognize fear.If a group of people they didn't know were to enter my coop they would pick out the most scared person.If you run it just makes it worst your better off running at them and to face them.

Do they get along with chickens? Like they wouldn't live in the same coop, but could you free range them together? And how much space do you need per goose? Next to the chicken coop, we have a little shaded fenced in corner of our backyard that I could put some fencing over for the goose.
 
My geese will be a year old in April but they have lived with the chickens most of there lives but there still young but they get along perfectly with my chickens so far.I don't know the exact square footage per goose but mine have a about a 50 by 25 foot yard and a 10 by 10 overhang that we are working on that will soon be a coop and they share it with turkey's ducks and chickens.

we had a goose once that would protect the chickens
