They have different coloring. When out ree ranging they spend some time in garden area but most the time walk around in the cement patio area. Is this normal behavior? Also, they chase each other and puff up their chest and run towards each other but then stop short, I don't see them actually attacking or pecking.

. Opal. I think she is a pullet. I was worried for awhile that she was a rooster but at five months no sign of trying to crow and crown is nonexistent so far.

They're all pullets. What you're seeing is just normal variation in hatchery birds. Or, the darker bird could be a cuckoo Marans. White/pink skin would confirm.

Bet they like the patio, cause it's closer to the source of treats.

Chest bumping is part of pecking order establishment. Also watch for stare downs, they are quite entertaining.
