FYI. if your chicken looks at you like she's thinking about pecking your eyeball, it might be because she is going to peck your eyeball.

Any suggestions for relieving the pain which is considerable? I can see fine it just hurts!

LOL! Sorry! Eyes should heal quickly, so as long as your vision is fine it won't be long. Maybe an aspirin will help with any pain.

I've had chickens eye my teeth like that when I smile at them. I once got pecked in the teeth quite hard, and of course her beak slid into the gum and made it bleed. I guess I'm lucky I learned my lesson via a peck to my teeth rather than my eye!

Try a cold pack, or frozen peas or corn. A few ibuprofen to keep swelling down. I was just worrying about this today! I have a few chickens that like to ride on my shoulder, and they look at my face, I try to keep my face turned away.

Sadly our eyeballs seem extremely appealing to them to peak. Thankfully I have learned you can train them not to peak them if you start young. If they go after your eyes when getting attention ignore them, put them down if you are holding them. They learn rather quickly eye peaking doesn't get them anything worth while. Unless they are trying to get you to ignore them.

I'd flush your eye and ice it if you can.
