I have a "nursery" where I keep my baby/young birds. It's a 10'x20' covered run so I guess it's a bit more than a nursery, lol. Anyhow I have 6 muscovies babies, 8 assorted pullets, a male peachick, 1 baby silkie roo, 1 silkie pullet, 1 full grown silkie roo, and 2 full grown silkies hens in there. All of the youngins are between 2 and 6 months old. The peachick being the oldest. They all love each other to pieces and start crying like babies if any their "siblings" are taken out. Today I introduced our four Guinnea keets (just shy of a month old) because they had outgrown the brooder box. They get along splendid with everyone else, my silkie pullet has even adopted them as her 'new' babies (she is a month older than the other pullets and when we first got them we put them in the brooder with her she started playing the protective momma lol). But now my peachick is displaying (first time ever. He's a scared chick who runs in terror from my teeny tiny four month old silkie roo every time he peeps)Is it just coincidence, you think? Or does he think the keets are peahens? He is still his scared chick self, just he is displaying to the keets and pullets when the baby silkie roo is on the other side of the pen.
