Hi All,
We have been looking at backyard chickens for quite a while now and thought it was time we joined. We keep bantam chooks in our yard and the kids jus love them.We have Silkies,Frizzles and De Uccle's(I hope I spelt that right) and are on the lookout for a new coop. The Wichita style coop seems like it will suit us perfectly and will fit in the space behind the shed and give our son something to get his teeth into and see that there is more to life than the X Box.I must say he is keen to get started as he keeps asking if I have got the STUFF YET,so I guess I better get to it.
Thanks Bundymark

Hi :welcome

Glad you joined the flock. Sounds like you have some lovely birds there. I too have frizzle polish and just love them. Also my son is the same with the XBOX has finally realised there is more to life than it. Chickens are a great way of getting kids outside and getting them learning about caring about animals. Good luck with your chickens and new coop :frow

G'Day Bundymark - sometimes you just have to lock the kids outside to expose them to the wonders of nature. You've got some neat birds, would love to see photos of them. BTW Welcome to Backyard chickens. We also have a first class aussie thread "Australia, six states and one funny little island." if you want to see what others are up to.

Welcome to BYC

So glad you joined us. I know your son will enjoy the chicken experience and am sure they will be more fun than X box.

The Wichita Cabin coop has worked well for us and my hens love their home. But we did have to expand once they were grown.

Good luck with your plans.
