ANOTHER sick chicken

IB does indeed cause sneezing. Some references call it snicking or chirping, but it is sneezing. IB symptoms are usually sneezing, watery eyes, and nasal discharge, UNLESS there is a secondary infection. Sometimes you will see wrinkled eggs and watery albumen or whites of the egg, but those signs can go away.

I guess I'll just have to keep checking to see if any new symptoms pop up or if she gets worse. She is only around 6 weeks old, so no eggs yet.

Snicking. I haven't heard that term in awhile. It is used here describing respiratory symptoms:

Good link. Snicking was something I had observed in babies in hospital, especially after a crying spell, which is little short bursts of inspiration. In chickens, it seems to be the clicking sound we hear when one is having respiratory distress. I have only heard it with a 2 week old chick that had a leaking air sac from an injury, who was having trouble breathing.

An update on Oprah;

She is still eating and drinking on her own and is being housed in a rabbit cage indoors. She seems to still have plenty of energy and is not hunched over in a corner like our previous sick birds were. However, her nose will not stop running. It's to the point where I have to pick the boogies off the one side every few hours and clean the goo off of her eye. Only her nostril and eye on the left side of her head are running, the right side is "normal". She's still sneezing and today her breathing is raspy, like a human's when they have a cold. I can't tell if it's from her stuffy nose or her lungs. Although her breathing doesn't seem labored. She really has me stumped with what is wrong with her. She still has no bad odor and her poop is perfectly fine. The vet said to continue the VetRX and give her 1cc of Tylan a day for a few days. I'm really hoping this little girl pulls through!
