Hi, our name is The Vazquez Family...We are new to the block and we just wanted to say hello. I'm trying to get my kids Isaac (10) & Rebecca (8) to get to appreciate poultry and the beauty of animals. We are located in palm beach and my son saw a picture of Serama and we researched it and now I'm trying to find him a chick or 2 of seramas so we could start. Any suggestions please feel free to share....

I would recommend checking out the For Sale section of the forums if you're looking for Seramas: Buy ~ Sell ~ Trade

Good luck!

Hello Vazquez family and welcome to BYC!

You might check in with the FL state thread, post there and maybe someone close by will have what you're looking for. And if not, hey, at least you meet some other Floridians! Here's the link for you:

I think it's great to get kids involved with caring and learning about animals. Glad to have you join us.

Welcome to BYC! Glad you decided to join us. Raising chickens is a great experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock, and your kids.)

Definitely do some chatting in your state thread. NorthFLChick has left you with the link. Maybe someone nearby has some birds for you.

Good luck and I hope you can find yourself a nice flock soon!

Seramas are big chickens in a tiny package. They were bred in Malaysia to be house pets, and they do make fine ones. They accept confinement well. There is a thread on here called "People with house chickens." More and more folks are finding out chickens can make very good pets, maybe not like a dog but, they are affectionate in their own way. I think your son made a good choice.
