Hey there,

I am excited to be here. My family of four humans and two cats just adopted seven hens. I don't know much of anything about tending to them and caring for them yet, but thanks to this site, I am learning a lot! We have one barred rock (Speck), two silver laced wyandottes (Moonlight and Midnight), and four Americanas (Sunrise, Sunset, Pirate, and Biddy). We live in the Olympia Washington area. Speck has given up four eggs in just over a week, and that's it. The americanas are molting. We converted our shed into a coop, and made a run for them but they haven't figured out how to get into the run. They haven't figured out how to get to the upper level of the coop, either. We let them range freely in our yard when we're home to protect them from predators.

I am sure I'll have a ton of questions to ask. I appreciate everyone's experience and expertise. I've already had so many questions answered just by searching the site.

Thanks!!

Tricia

You have come to the right place for all the fun and learning! Sounds like your chickens need to do some exploring!! They will figure it all out eventually.

Make yourself at home here and ask any questions you may have.

Welcome to our flock!
