GIANT EGG??

Nope, I got a couple of those from my smallest hen when she first started laying and she's settled out nicely now. Quite a stunner when you get one like that, isn't it? Mine came from a Red Sex Link.

Couldn't close the carton!

This one was actually smaller to LOOK at than the other one but it was denser.

This is the smaller one. Still pretty hefty and it looked bigger than the heavier egg.

I cracked the 112 gram one open expecting a double yolker - it was actually 2 complete eggs...2 complete outer whites, two complete inner whites, and two yolks. I nicked one yolk with the edge of the shell.

OH GOOD!!! Cool double Egg!! I was a little worried! Mine is from a Golden Comet.
Golden Comets, Red Sex Links, and Red Stars - they are basically the same bird but named differently by the hatchery or breeder they come from. They have a few other names too, but I can't remember them all!

Maybe somebody else can chime in. I love them - they are calm, easy to care for, good foragers but also tolerate confinement, and really steady, reliable layers. No worries about that egg size unless consistently laying eggs that big starts causing reproductive difficulty. But as a general rule getting eggs like these on occasion isn't cause for concern. Celebration? Yes! Concern? Not really!
