Hello!
I am the proud owner of 5 little ladies I picked up just about 3 weeks ago! I had been toying with having chickens for a few years now, but jumped in this summer. I managed to pick up a used wooden play fort, the two story kind with A-frame swings off to the side as well as tons of free materials from a home reno being done across the road. I rent a farm house in farm country in Delta, BC...where winter is pretty darn mild...just wet.

We are getting one or two eggs a day even though there is very little sunshine these days, it has been so rainy! I decided not to use light in their coop after reading about their laying cycle. They have a partially covered run with 6 inches of river sand and enjoy the juicing pulp and other veggie treats they get.

They sure are a hoot!

I made this album public (I hope) from my facebook page.... let me know if it doesn't work.

Nice to meet you!

Hello and welcome to BYC! Nice to hear you are enjoying your birds.

I clicked the link in your post and got this message:

Anyway, what breed of chickens do you have? Congrats on getting those eggs!

I made the album public....but, just in case, here they are! I have no idea what kind they are (brown ha ha ha) some lay a lovely pinky coloured egg, some light brown with dark brown spots, one who lays white-ish one who lays eggs with soft shells that usually break (white and big) maybe the other one lays the same as another :)
