Heated water for geese in winter...your ideas?

We don't have problems with keeping heated water bowls/waterers for the chickens, ducks and turkeys because they don't chew on the electrical cables, but geese do...yikes!
What do you do to provide frozen free water for your geese flock in winter...and I'm talking winters where the temps get below 0F, and snow. Thanks for your replies

This is my first year keeping geese and ducks. In alaska my temp can go to -60 to where I'm at. These kids refuse to go inside I have no snow yet and when it did for a day they stayed out. I'm thinking of doing a large saw horse covering with three layers of see through plastic putting it over the water and putting a outdoor work light in it as the love love he light and so I'm hope with great bedding lots of straw that is and fingers crossed they will be okay.

My geese are like toddlers...anything they see, they put in their mouths !!! So I've taken to using the appropriatly sized PVC pipe and running the cable or cord or whatever it is
that needs protecting, through it right up until it meets the actual component. Don't know if that will work for your situation or not, but it's all I've got to offer at this time.

Since I can't do this which sounds like a good idea, I have one that the geese found yesterday and I caught them chewing on so I used gorilla tape and wrapped the entire cord all the way across where the heated bowl and extension cord meets. stinkers will chew anything, I like the way the heated bowls and buckets have the protective metal around their part of the cord but you sure have to be creative when it comes to geese.

PS haven't done anything with toothpicks yet. Ideas always welcome. lol

The heated water bucket I bought from tractor supply has wire wrapped around the entire cable, and it says on the tags it's specifically for keeping animals from chewing through it!

Aren't they wonderful must have had geese in mind when they made them. lol

I've seen those on Amazon. They sell them for about $35.00 I think. Now, if only they sold just the wire coil so I could wrap it around the thousand feet of extension cord I have
laying around, winter would be a breeze...lol !!! I'd better watch what I say. For all I know, they do sell just the wire wrap and now there'll be a shortage! (Get it...shortage...as in "There's a short in my wires"...hahaha !!!) I think I'm starting to suffer from hypoglycemia...everything seems strangely funny to me at the moment...I'd better go get something to eat!

I have one extension cord and by the way I made the leap last year and bought all 12 gauge [had to add this so others will know how important it is to use proper gauge] with heated outside equiptment. And the one for the old folks yard is about a thousand ft. Just kidding but it does have to go just about half link of my house. I used large cup hooks to keep mine off the ground and away from goose lips. Same with one of the others in where the geese tend to hang the most, those cup hooks really help to keep them up and out of the way, I have one though that has to be down low to get through the pop door to plug in that's the one they spied and started gnawing on, that's the one I wrapped in gorilla tape. I bought all my heated buckets and feeder bowls[ I use Fermented feed so yes they have to have heated bowls in the winter.]at TSC much less expensive the 35.00 from Amazon is only 29.99 at TSC.

Yes, those cords that are wired wrapped definitely are helpful, but extension cords don't come wired wrapped, but we do
try to use a 12 or 10 gauge good quality outdoor extension cords, Can you explain more about those cuphooks? Are they attached to poles?
We're going to tray a floating deicer in our large pool, hopefully that will keep the ice open some for the waterfowl, but we need to rig something up so the geese
don't pull it out of the pool by the cord.
