I cracked open this egg a few minutes ago after candling on day 20. We had incubator problems last Saturday in which the temperature was down to 97F Sunday morning after setting it to 101F Saturday night. The temperature was fluctuating a lot so I put the remaining 5 eggs underneath my newly broody Silkie. Thought she was a life saver. Provided the incubator hadn't already killed the chicks. This little one was 1 of 2 purebred Silkies (other was infertile) in the group of 17 eggs set for incubation. She was kicking her feet Saturday night but Sunday morning/Day 15... nothing. Does it look like that was the day? She is black like her daddy. Hate to lose her. I sold her dad due to aggressiveness towards a new Buff Orpington roo but he was sweet to everyone and everything else.

Her egg is there so you can compare size to that. She only took up about half of the egg.

Yes, it looks like a day 15-16 embryo. So sorry you lost her...
