6th Annual BYC New Year's Day 2015 Hatch-A-Long

I will add that I always cut the bottoms out of the styrofoam as well as much of the sides... but enough to keep them stable.... and I always angled them with the air sac at the top...( last candle when I put them in before "confinement"... / lockdown.

Thanks for the tips!

I made these for my wife. Recycling up!! I took old wooden windows and last year(2014) chicken calendar and cut out some of the picture and white siliconed them around the edges to the back of window panes.

Hubby says my temp is 99.5 and humidity is stuck at 53.. Not horrible though considering how hard it is to keep mine up (for some strange reason).. I will add a dish tonight or something I guess.

I always had a tube placed from the outside top of the incubator to the bottom where the water wells are.... If the humidity was below 60, I'd add WARM water into the tube to raise it. Worked great.

Thanks! I do add warm water but last night it bumped my temp too to where I wasn't comfy. I think I'll try a dish and see if that works better, OR I'll do the warm water and keep a close eye tomorrow (I'm working today and don't think I'll ask hubby to touch anything lol)

I thought I would post a picture of how I hatch my eggs. I take the racks off the turner and set back in the incubator. They hatch well for me that way. I also put a water bottle in as a heat sink to help heat stay constant at hatch.

How neat is that!

Important question, anyone hear anything about the flu this year? My niece just called and told me that she was in the hospital last night with a fever of 105 degrees! They put her on morphine and wanted to soak her in ice but she refused. She's doing better this morning but I was wondering how bad it is. She said the flu shot isn't working this year either and that it's bad down there in Texas so be careful.
