Corn

My ideas of feeding for the night cold is to give them anything that will send them to bed with a full crop.  Any food can be digested and put out heat , and a full crop gives them quite a while to work on it.  I'm not sure if fiber is good because it requires more digestive time.  But it could be.

My logic is not so much about simply increasing energy intake, I also want to keep feed bill down. On cost of actual feed, I succeed but when you factor in the observation time, feedstuff containers, and actual labor it is likely my approach is more expensive. With respect to health, I do have concern about tucking birds in every night with crops full of nutrient dense that is very much processed to behave differently that natural food in the crop and balance of digestive tract.
