"And so, from hour to hour, we ripe and ripe. And then, from hour to hour, we rot and rot; and thereby hangs a tale.” ~Shakespeare, As You Like It, Act II, Scene VII
Hidden in the taiga of Canada lie four wolf packs: Stormpeak, Frostwood, Silentwater, and Breezevale. For years they have dwelled here, so long that the elders' tales of the beginning of the packs have to be questioned. They have lived here – well, not in peace. There have been skirmishes, battles, even wars, but they've gotten by. It's been as good as they can hope for here, really.
Or at least, it has been – until now.
Now, food is running low. Under normal circumstances this would mean the approach of winter, but it's early summer. And it's been running low since the beginning of the year. It's not simply a poor year for food – the situation's becoming desperate. The tension could be bit in half. The growls of hungry bellies are challenged only by the growls of the wolves attached to them. Pups cry for milk that their mothers can't provide. Border skirmishes are becoming more frequent as the threat of starvation looms over the packs like an angry storm cloud. Fear reigns with iron teeth.
Come join the packs of the taiga, if you dare.

Note: One of the packs is going to be driven out. Don't whine if it's your pack.

The Four Packs:
(Frostwood and Breezevale are separated by the river.)
Stormpeak: Here on the mountains you must be strong, nimble, and able to take a beating, and the pack has learned to embody those traits. Their territory is one of the easier to defend. The river cuts through the mountains in a small gully, so they have a good supply of water.
Frostwood: Life in the forest brings agility, letting the wolves here dodge trees and jump logs with ease. They become good at moving silently and hiding. The wolves are secretive, Like the forest they live in.
Silentwater: The lake brought these wolves an ample supply of food, keeping them well fed. Or at least, better fed nowadays. The pups learn to swim almost before they can walk.
Breezevale: Speed is essential here. Long-legged wolves seem to fly across the plain as they hunt for prey. They're in a good position, with Frostwood separated by the river and Stormpeak in a better position to defend than attack.

Silverpack:
In the beginning, there were two brothers. One was called Silvergaze, for his eyes shone silvery-yellow. The other was Brokenheart, named for the bent ribs over his chest.Or at least, it has been – until now.

Silverpack:
For a long time, the brothers lived in peace and love, and together they formed the world.
One day Silvergaze turned to his brother and said, “Let us create mates of our own flesh, that our race may continue.” Brokenheart agreed to this proposal, and the brothers made mates for themselves.
Silvergaze’s mate was called Goldeneye, for her eyes were a bright, shining gold; and she was as good as she was beautiful. And Brokenheart’s mate was called Shatteredice, for as she was made from one of his bent ribs, she was crooked in body and spirit. In those days, the only light came from the stars, and Shatteredice used the darkness to her advantage, corrupting her husband in the shadow.
One day, when the brothers were hunting, Brokenheart, perverted by his mate, attacked his brother. But Silvergaze was stronger, and triumphed. He banished Brokenheart and Shatteredice, and they retreated into the depths of the earth.
Then Silvergaze went to his mate and said, “I will have this darkness no longer, so I will take one of my eyes and put it into the sky that it may give light to the world and let me see all.”
“My love,” said Goldeneye, “I will not let this be your burden alone. Therefore I shall take one of my eyes as well, that it may give light and see along with yours.” And because Goldeneye’s sacrifice was one of love, her eye shone in the sky with incomparable brilliance. Then she and her mate went into the heavens. So Silvergaze’s eye became the moon, and Goldeneye’s became the sun.
That day, the brothers formed two packs: Silverpack and Brokenpack. When they died, the wolves who had been good in life joined Silverpack, and the bad went to Brokenpack.
When they have finished hunting through the day, the wolves of Silverpack gather at the moon to look down upon their descendants, who sing their prayers to them.
And that is why wolves howl at the moon.

All BYC rules apply.
I made this RP. I own this RP. By joining this RP, I also own your soul. (Not really, but I'm in charge, and you shouldn't make me mad. Mkay pumpkin?)
Girls, girls. You're all pretty, darlings, but if you really must fight, take it to PMs.
Keep the male-to-female ratio even, please. (Translation: KEEP IT EVEN OR YOUR SOUL IS MINE!)
No drama. If I see drama…your soul.
Keep it PG-PG13
No swearing, understood?
Make as many characters as you want, but play them. Okay?
Perfect characters shall be sacrificed to the crows.
Do NOT play other peoples' characters. (Your soul, remember?)
Be realistic. Fighting, romance, everyday life…Realism is necessary.
No one-liners. (Unless the creativity juices just ain't flowing. It happens to the best of us, don't worry.)
When naming your characters, no human names or made up names. (On the bright side, you can use all those hippie names that would be ridiculous for humans!)
And have fun!
