December Hatch-A-Long 2014

So exciting, can't wait to see everyone's pics, lots of us are in lockdown or going into it.
Today is lockdown for me! Yay, finally. Just got my eggs turned to where the lowest end of the air cell is facing up, incubator is closed and humidity is going up, currently at 50%. My temp isn't budging from 91 degrees yet though but I'm giving it a bit before I turn up the dial. Last night I couldn't go to bed because it kept spiking to 102 whenever the humidity went up. I'm nervous and excited and TIRED! I have a feeling that's what my next few days are gonna look like.
I didn't get to bed till 1 am, slept terrible although I know I slept because I had a dream all 10 eggs were pipping and zipping and then my mother in law opened the incubator and 3 didn't make it.... but I had 7 fluffy butts in my dream, wonder if it will be reality. I really didn't imagine id be putting 10 of my 12 eggs in lockdown so having 7 hatch would be fabulous although I'm rooting for all 10.
Anyway now to sit about 4 feet away from my incubator sewing my kids christmas gifts and checking on the incubator every so often.

Good luck everyone, share your pics.

You may need to get that temp up...adjust it just small amounts at the time if it has been low for a while. If it's bc you were just in there then it should return to temp. I did have adjustments to make once I took out the three cartons. Check your room temp and drafts, maybe a blanket too. I also try and boil my water for the incubator and let it cool to 100 degrees to add to the incubator 10 ml at a time. For my Hovabator it will raise the humidity 3% & doesn't mess with the temps. If you can't see the air cells from the window then you may want to turn them to face you as well....

You are running a still air incubator right???

Hang in there!!! We are all rooting for you. Take a couple naps today if you can because there are 3 days to get through...

to get your temp up (or atleast help it out alittle) without touching the controls you could add some warm-hot water

thanks guys. Temp was low because I was in there turning the eggs for the air cells to face me. It's back up to 100 now, I figured it would be I just needed to give it time. Humidity is at 59%, it's been rising slowly, if it's not well over 60 in 30 mins I'm going to add some water but for now I'm happy the way it's going. So glad I don't really have anything planned for the next few days so I can actually sit here and make sure it's where it needs to be.

How are your hatches going?

glad you got your temp back up. Your humidity us fine where it is :)

Adding hot water is key to keep the temp stable and humidity high.

I also found that sitting in the house during lockdown is probably the worst idea! LOL Mine are set to pip on Friday so I'll be at work all week and not have to look at the eggs. Then I go shopping or do something else AWAY from the eggs so I'm not tempted to mess with them. It seems like my eggs like to hatch overnight, which is perfect. I have cute little surprises when I get up in the morning.

I'm too much of a control freak to leave the house during this process. The most I'm leaving the house is to pick my kids up from school each day and then I have to go take my last final tomorrow evening. And Friday evening my daughter and I are going to see the nutcracker. Other than that I will be home. I'll be busy studying and sewing christmas gifts though so I'll be busy but still close enough to keep an eye in the incubator. Maybe one day after I've done a few hatches and feel confident in what I'm doing then I can relax more and go with the flow.
