Just as an update, Pebbles was definitely a HE! He started crowing at 3 months, almost to the day. He is still the sweetest chicken though. He was always a bully to the others when treats were involved, but he has become less of a bully since he started crowing. He "mated" for the first time at 3.5 months and was gentle with the hen. He still enjoys a nap on my lap and shows no aggression toward humans or the hens (though he corralls the girls from time to time).
