My sick chicken

Thank you very much. I was thinking when medicine gets here I can send it back to you. As I don't need it now. Man what a week. The chick died too.

The next day. I did everything I was suppose to do to keep it warm and everything. I feel like such a failure. Thanks again everyone for your help.

You are not a failure. You did everything you could. Many people would have just culled the bird, but you gave it your all. Unfortunately there are times like this and we cant control it. On a positive note you can use this information in the future if the time ever arises. Don't worry about the baytril. It would be a good idea to stick that in your first aid kit and save the shipping cost. I'm very sorry peepers and the new chick didn't make it. I hope things start to look up :) (big hug)

You all have helped me so much in the past and, lately, the present it's the least I can do for someone else.  Just think Kathy, if you wouldn't have helped me find it a few weeks ago I wouldn't have it on hand to share :)  Things have a funny way of working out don't they?

Bay bay...this is so cool!

Lynnsfarm....I am so sorry your girl didn't make it. :hugs

Aww thank you so much! Thanks for the HUG too..I needed that :clap

Loosing your favorite chicken can be tough. When my favorite chicken was sick, I literally held her and just cried, I was so upset. I feel your pain. :) who would of ever thought one could get attached to a chicken. ;)

Mine were both very young but I loved them right away, lol. Peepers had so much fight in her/him. I love all animals I think, but birds are very unique. Thanks for caring. I will post, and help others if I can. You all haven't seen the last of me lol. Happy Holidays BYC

Hi a little update I think I'm finally done with chickens dying this season. I had 1 last month with bad respiratory wheezing really bad. It had a tiny bit of dry pox which cleared up quick with a couple treatments of Betadine (like iodine) diluted and applied with q-tip to beak. Then I used the Medicine Bay Peepers sent me for the wheezing. Yes I gave the sickly thing 2 shots. I had never given a shot before it was scary. I added probiotic to water, and fed it all kinda treats it liked, mixed with grower crumble, to keep it eating. Within a week it was all better! It's now with the remaining 2 (of 6) birds in its flock and they are doing well. They all 3 spend nights indoors as they are just now almost fully feathered. Thanks again to all for your advice and to Bay Peepers for the Baytril.
