what can i do some of
my chickens stopped laying eggs. i started raising them on January 2014 and the start laying eggs on July. the are 30 in number but some has stopped laying .and some haven't even started laying.
 
Hello Prince I'm new to this forum too but i can help you out.Most chicken breeds as far as i know and experience with my own chickens, stop laying eggs in the winter. When exactly they stop and when they start again depends a lot on the breed, age and just the chicken itself. There are some tricks you can do to try to keep them laying year round but they are generally not cost effective for a small scale for personal egg consumption. Try search something like "Getting chicken to lay in the winter" or "Make chickens lay year round." I know the forum has some threads on winter and lighting for laying longer but i havnt read those myself.

Hens can stop laying for a number of reasons. Temperature change, lack of light, bullying, lack of food, water or calcium, molting, etc. They also could be hiding their eggs if they free range.

Make sure they have either eggshells or oyster shells. These provide them the calcium their bodies need. An eggshell is roughly 94% calcium. They also need access to clean, fresh water and food.

Molting can also make them stop. This it the time of year when they lose and regrow their feathers. Give them lots of protien. Peas, meat scraps, mealworms, quinoa and cooked eggs all have protein.

Lack of light and temp change also contribute to egg production. Hens need 16 hours of light a day to lay eggs. They also lay best when the temps range from 50- 75 degrees.
