Odd. I'm still a newbie, so I'm not going to argue but I thought at 6 months it would be more obvious. I have 2 roos in my flock and they are just over 6 months old. (hatched June 11th). They have way more developed combs, wattles and saddle feathers.
My initial assessment of your original post was that they're approaching POL and their hormones are raging a bit.

POL = Point of Lay
Here's a previous thread where someone wanted to know when his JG roo would crow. The original post states he's 5 months old but the photo is old. Less than a month later he posts again to report his rooster crowed and posted a current pic.
