First Time Incubating! SO EXCITED!!

The dark brown is just a spot of blood. Nothing to worry about it happens. As long as the membrane is flexible you should be good. Sit on your hands!

I forgot to mention, the pip is not in the air cell. It's about middle way of the egg.
 
I hate when they do that! Still should be fine, they do that just to make us worry and yes it's going to be a long night. Your humidity at 65 is perfect so don't worry about that. It's 12am EST, how long do you think it's been since it's external pip? It can take 24 and sometimes a little longer after the pip for them to zip and hatch. They pip and then they have to finish absorbing the yolk and blood vessels so be patient.

I'm not exactly sure when it pipped because it had pipped on the bottom side of the egg, and I didn't see it until around 6:00pm EST. It is still alive right now, with it's beak poking out of the hole. I removed a tiny piece of shell, and the membrane looks great. But, it feels almost like paper. Is that how it is supposed to feel? I dabbed some warm water on it, without getting it on the beak or nostril. I feel like he can't go anywhere in that egg. He will open and close his beak and peep, but isn't making any progress on zipping. I will give it a little while longer.
Atleast I know he is breathing!!

I have also had 1 to hatch and several pips and zippings!!

I've had 4 to hatch so far, 2 more pips, and 8 that are doing nothing. One of the pips is not in the air cell, it's about half way down the egg. It has it's beak sticking out and I can see breathing and peeps. 3 chicks I think have mushy chick. But not positive. I tried to get some good pics, but they didn't turn out all that great. It's not a lot of swelling, but I've never seen a brand new just hatched baby chick before, and have nothing to compare to. The picture below is the first one that hatched and is going to be my mystery chicken. It came from my only green egg, which belonged to my Olive Egger, but 3 days prior to collecting her egg she had been moved to a different flock with a different rooster (RIR). Before the move, she was with my Old English Game Bantam rooster. So, it is possible that her egg was fertilized by one or the other roosters. My question is, and it's a dumb question, but this chick seems very small. Are bantams smaller than standard size at hatch? Just curious!
 
Congrats!!!

Yes bantams are smaller at hatch.

They can look pretty weird when first hatched until they dry out...sometimes even then if they were really icky the fluff doesn't dry out but stays slicked down, but it will fluff up within a day or two.

Keep an eye on the umbilical area, that too can look pretty weird for the first few hours or days but heal up just fine.
Keep them in the incubator, nice and warm.

Congrats!!! I'm so excited for you!!! And yuck on the malepositioned! I had one last hatch I ended up having to help out of the egg. Her head was under her foot in this weird position....lol. She's a happy healthy 4 week old now. (The black one in my pics named Mumble).
I am so glad they finally got their butt in gear for you! My very first chick that hatched, I looked at him and thought, 'Your head looks flat/squished." lol
That's an adorable baby you have there. I can't wait to see more!

Awww...Mumble is my favorite!! And thanks!! The one in the pic, I didn't even think would make it to day 5. The mama hen is molting and is soooooo ugly right now and it just makes her look dirty and sick. But, she went from being picked on by 4 Barred Rocks till the point of bleeding, to me having to remove a bumblefoot, to being the best little scrapper....lol She has worked hard to gain her spot in the pecking order!! For some reason I just didn't think this one would make it. The egg was green, so I could never really get a good look at it candling. I would just always put it back in and just hope it was ok. I had forgotten until last night, that she was with one of my little bantam roosters for a while, and as soon as it dawned on me....I'm so wanting this little chick to be a bantam EE. Anyway, he/she is not wasting any time. It is eating good and drinking good. She is also pecking the others. I didn't realize they would do that so young. Lol

The malpositioned one pipped externally some time yesterday. I didn't notice it until 6pm cause it was on the bottom of the egg. So that's well over atleast 15 hours. I did try to assist some by removing some shell, but it's still in the same position. I didn't see any bleeding and the membrane looks good. I may try a little more soon.

None of my white eggs have moved, pipped or peeped. Neither have the twins. Don't know what's up with that. I may candle one tonight when it gets dark. I will leave them in the bator for a few more days.

Thanks for all the help and support. It has definitely been a long night and day for me. I didn't sleep a wink, and I have a massive cold or sinus thingy going on.

Hope you feel better! I didn't figure you'd get much sleep....lol.
That's how I did mumbles assisted hatch. I opened the hole a bit to see how it was positioned, was pretty sure I was seeing the foot over the beak, but I put it back in to see if it could make any headway itself. (That was about 18 hours.) By 24 I chipped away a little more egg, wet the mebrane and put it back in. An hour or so later I did a little more until it was able to get it's foot down and head up, then she was able to push and break out the rest of the shell....lol I have no idea how she got in the position she was in. When I had the shell open enough her beak stuck out with her foot over it. Hard to describe, but as soon as I saw how she was positioned I knew she wasn't going far without help. lol

what is going on? day 24 - 2 hatched evening of day 21, 12 chicks still alive but lots of fluid in egg with large vessels
