I have three Welsh Harlequin females, plus a drake. One of the girls went broody about 10 days ago. I am hoping to have them hatch out babies - but not in November! I let her sit for two days while I thought about if it was practical to let her try to hatch them, then decided it wasn't a good idea, so I took the three eggs she was sitting on. For two days after that she laid an egg each day and sat, and I took it. The other girls all stopped laying, but none of them went broody. Now - no eggs at all!
I got the ducks at 12 months old in July and they molted when I brought them home. 8 weeks later they started laying an egg a day. We got about 1 month of eggs - and now none! We're a more than a little frustrated since we've basically spent $20 per egg as of right now! Did I completely screw this up by letting her sit those two days? Or could it be something else? We had a big cold snap (like 20 degrees colder than the week before). Could that have been the cause of them stopping?
Since we've only had them laying for a month, I have them under lights to have them lay through the winter.
Do you think they will they start laying again?
Thanks!
