SICK RED SEX LINK. PLEASE HELP!

Something worth noting regarding calcium and enrofloxacin. Apparently birds given calcium less than 2 hours before or after enrofloxacin dosage minimized the effects of antibiotic activity:

Calcium binds with it and several other drugs (tetracycline, too, I think), so they aren't supposed to be given together. Some studies say that the same can happen when one uses hard water. Since she said she wasn't going to give the Baytril, I saw no reason to explain the calcium thing.

http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/calcium-carbonate.html - Ciprofloxacin is the human equivalent of Baytril. Cipro and many other antibiotics are listed under the moderate interactions link.

Good info. Yes, I believe calcium inhibits the action of tetracyclines even more according to what I've read over the years. Vitamin C is a good addition for absorption of tetracyclines. Since that 2 hour window of enrofloxacin administration, it would probably be best to give at night after a bird(s) has not ingested calcium for a couple hours, and won't until the following morning?
