This is supposed to be a silver laced wyandotte hen, or so the seller told me. I don't really care because she is just a pet. But "she" is 4/5 months old and has started crowing every now and then. There are no spurs, and the comb isn't very large. Can someone help??

He's a cockerel - spurs and comb will gradually become larger.

Thanks! Wasn't familiar with this breed. I had a golden comet rooster a while back, but he passed on. He had a huge comb by this age and spurs from very early on. Either way this one is beautiful.

Agree he's a cockerel, and going to be very pretty when he matures!

I think what's throwing you on the combs may be that this bird has a rose comb, where your sex link probably had a big ol straight comb. The rose combs aren't as large overall as the straight comb, but they're red and very plump...just a different style. Sex links, being production birds, also mature faster. I've noticed even my hatchery Wyandottes take a touch longer to mature than my more production-based birds.
