electric poultry fencing......tell me about yours

Do you have a tractor supply or well stocked country type hardware store nearby? They will help you get set up. You need a fence charger, fence poles, fence wire, ground wire, ground rods and ground wire clamps.
I use an inexpensive 5 mile rated charger ($30) and can attest to it's effectivenes. It must be protected from weather. The weather protected solar are much more expensive. The chargers come with directions for proper fence and charger setup and installation.

Going to supply store at lunch tomorrow!
try posting a video of your pest dogs when they discover the power of an electric fence. It is truly electrifying.

Electricity like running water follows the easiest and best path to ground. If that path is between dogs wet nose and his paws so much the better. If weeds, snow, or a fallen tree branch creates a better path all the electricity will flow through that path. I once saw an 1,800 pound bull knocked over backwards while he stood on soggy ground and inspected a fence that the storm had knocked out but which I had repaired. He wasn't hurt but he did learn new respect for electric fences.

I have posted this video before but watch and listen when Mr. Fox comes into contact with this electric fence.

my blue heeler got poped twice and now will not even exit the yard when i go to the chicken house unless i call her. i would avoid netting as it is intended more for keeping chickens in and other animals could get trapped in it while on. for winter you could always set the fence up so you can dissconnect the lower section/s unless you enjoy shoveling snow.

What other owner? They don't border me. Just down the road. I'm not enclosing my whole property, just my chicken zone, which is well inside my acreage.
