Thanks for the reply. I have a roof over the coop, it's the run that I need to change out the straw every 5 days or so, due to the amount of rain we get at times. I live in Pahoa, also. From where can I buy the wood ash? And the cruched coral I get is in bag form...not from the beach.

You're welcome. I've never bought wood ash. I've just burned some logs (kiawe or ohia works well) and put the ash in a box after it has cooled.
