Is it safe to use a infared heat lamp????
Or what is better recommended for keeping chicks warm????

Hello!

This is just us, but we decided to splurge on a brinsea ecoglo heater. It gives off a very gentle heat, no chance of burning, no accidentally setting anything on fire, no overheating the chicks. The chicks love it (if it came in a "human model" I would want one for myself!). It is easy to clean. it is pricey but for the amount of chicks we plan to have, it is actually quite cost effective. It fits nicely in a box or brooder (or bathtub which is where we have our chicks now). It has a LONG cord.

Our biggest concerns with heat was safety--both for us and for the chicks. A lot of fires are caused by heat lamps, but you can touch the plate of the ecoglo and it is just really nicely warm and pleasant. Plus it gives the chicks a "hidey place" to run to.

Hope this helps!
