Help!!!!! Turkey incubating & hatching information with pics are greatly needed....

We have 2 turkeys!!!! A beautiful mating pair!!!! We got our first egg today.... she wasnt laying on it so we decided to bring it on & put it in our bator.... We need to know how to tell where the air sack is ( as both sides look at a like ).... We need to know how long to incubate, how the humidity is supposed to be & what the temp is supposed to be... please any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!
 
Turkeys incubate at the same temps and humidity as chicken eggs. One major difference is the duration. Theirs are 28 days. So incubate at 99.5 with 45 to 55% humidity for 25 days turning at least 3 times per day minimum. (always turn an odd number of times each day ie: 3,5 ect...) Stop turning at day 25 and raise humidity to 65 to 75%..... they will hatch at or near day 28 +or- 2 days . Some may debate this but I found that if you open the incubator and let the eggs air out for about 15 minutes a day I got much better hatches ( don't worry about the eggs cooling down too much during the 15 minutes) Just a word of caution if this is the first egg your hen has laid it is likely not fertile.
The air cell will start to develop within hours. Just take the egg in a dark room and shine a flashlight into the egg. The air cell should be clearly visible. If you are going to incubate in a carton place the egg large end up or if you cannot tell which end is the large end put the air cell up. If you are laying them on their side to incubate just lay them on their side with the smaller end lower than the bigger end.

X2... Great Info..

Also if this is the first egg I agree that its more than likely not fertile.. The first one I would break open to check, I would then save eggs and then incubate together when they do become fertile. I would never incubate just one unless that was the only one I ever got.
 
Thank you!!! They are both approx 18 months... they were laying eggs for their previous owner but this is the first egg we have gotten from her... We have been seeing them doing their courting dances & we caught them a few times mating. We were unsure if the "layout" was almost the same as a chicken egg. Your information is a big help!!!! Thank you!!!! My next question is... is the candeling process pretty much the same as a chickens???

When I incubated I waited 10-14 days to candle, incubation is pretty much the same, what worked for your chickens incubating will work for turkeys..

Also if you saw them mating then there is a good chance they are indeed fertile. I would still gather as many as I could in a 7-10 day period, store them like you would a fertile chicken egg and then incubate them all together, unless you have two incubators I wouldn't attempt a staggered hatch.
 
She is a lucky Turkey owner... I am trying to be patient as I don't expect anything out of mine til March or so.. They are almost 8 Mo

thank you all very much your innformation has helped alot!!!! this is day 2 & there are no more eggs so we are gonna keep checking for a couple of days & if nothing else we are still gonna try this egg we do have...lol.... we loves our turkeys!!!! we are very lucky to have them!!!! they are such awesome birds!!!!!
