so i'm hatching some chicks soon and I couldn't decide on which colour variety of maran to go for, so wheaten marans or black copper marans? anybody have any preferences on which they prefer? Any feedback is much appreciated!

BCM lay very dark eggs. color balancing can be a challenge. Been accepted by APA longer and pure French origin strains are available. .
Wheaten chick down makes it easy to ID foreign genes in the down stage, making culling for color easier.
Both colors are stunning in their adult plumage.
Wheaten gene is present in some BCM gene pools. Strict culling necessary to get pure BCM.

Black-Tailed Buff and Golden Salmon present in some Wheaten gene pools. Knowledge of the uneasy genetic affinity between the three colors is necessary to understand how they influence each other. Understanding of correct chick down is very important in both colors.
Best,
Karen
