Domesticated Ducks left at the Park

We have two parks here. Both parks have a decent-sized pond, and I have seen many migratory ducks and geese come and go. Sadly, living where I do, there are plenty of people who go out and get ducks and geese, decide they don't want them any more, and dump them. I've seen Muscovy and Pekin ducks, and I have seen Chinese and African geese. I bet I have seen others, but these are the ones I've seen most recently and recognized easily. I have read Muscovies are now protected and cannot be relocated, but could someone be able to catch the domesticated fowl legally from these areas, or how would one go about requesting their removal? No one seems to be able to give me an answer, so I'm hoping someone here will have a suggestion.

I know someone who once went to the very park I'm speaking of in the dead of night and took several ducks and a few geese. They feared they would be fined if they were caught... but I am curious if they would have been (assuming they only took domesticated fowl that obviously didn't get there on their own migratory routes).

not sure, but i really get mad when i see domestic ducks and geese on ponds. in winter, they can't migrate or find much food, so they are at risk. If you got away with catching them, you would be home free (unless you took some Canada geese, then you would get fined).

LOL, I have no intention of getting any geese, really. They wouldn't be happy in my yard. Ducks, however. Paradise. Regular meals, their own house, plenty of yard space. Duck heaven.

hahaha! yup, duck heaven! I love ducks...i have a small flock here (along with a few geese, they are loud!) and love them all to pieces!!

After almost a month, I am finally given the go-ahead to get the ducks from the park. I emailed Game and Wildlife Commission and it was determined there is no law against taking domestic ducks (and only domestic ducks) from the park, however, one would need to call the city to make sure they want them gone.

One would have to receive specific permission to accomplish it, but there are no fines associated to capture domestic ducks/geese at the local park.

yay!! That's great!! Post pics of any you get...i love seeing duck pictures!!

I have recently learned my Jumbo Pekin will only allow White ducks in his flock. He has so far ostracized Khaki Campbells, Muscovy, and Rouen, so I have decided to limit my rescues to Pekins (or other mixes that just happen to be all white). Yesterday, while visiting the park, I saw the girl on the left, and I just had to bring her home. She has knee problems, and I'm not sure what is going on, if they were broken at one point and didn't heal, or she grew up in an abnormal situation, such as an over-crowded, small cage? Maybe a Niacin Deficiency? I'm not sure, and I bet some one called the cops when I did this in broad daylight, but I couldn't just leave her there....

I have decided to call her Snow White. She is the one on the far left, and you's see her knees. They look bad...

She finds respite in the smaller water pan. She can easily get in and out of it.

It is so heart-breaking someone would leave such a helpless duck.

awe! poor girl! i she sure looks happy now!

I wonder what happened to her, those legs do look bad. I makes me mad at how irresponsible people can be.
lol, ducks sure are food hounds, they love to eat!
