Hi guys I have heard a lot about milk goats and meat goats being incompatible with chickens but I heard sheep are fine with chickens and sheep with chickens must be true because I have had them living together for around 8 years.

Sheep or goats are about equally compatible with chickens. Goats however can escape from a ten foot tall fence and will climb on your coops and pens.

The most milked dairy animal on Earth are sheep, not cows, yacks, camels, mares, or goats.

I know that sheep will also eat a lot a chicken feed if given the chance that's why they live in different pens but they can freerange together.

Your right I just meant that in my area there are not to many pygmy goats or other small breeds we mostly have Nubians, angoras, and lots of boar goats.

Goats can get into the chicken feed and gorge themselves often causing death to goat.

Yep. The copper in chicken feed can also kill the goats. You either need to keep chicken feed in the coop where the goats can't get to it, or keep them completely separate (they are fine free ranging together.

If you ever throw scraps or other food out for your chickens with goats around, the goats will tend to scoop it up. (My goats have learned the chicken's "I found food" call and will run from wherever they are to try to steal it.

Ok, I see this is a really old thread.... but WHAAAAAA??????
The two animals I want to have are goats and chickens... Oh oh! They arent compatible??
I should be able to keep the goats out of the coop (the only place there is chicken feed) but they will be sharing a barn. They will also be free ranging together. I am hoping to not have to build fences for my goats, but to train them to not eat the veggie garden.
We have 27 acres, and Im hoping to get the goats to "clear" the small undergrowth (the forest in a few areas was selectively cleared, so its a nice open forest but this was about 6 years ago, so lots of trees wih less than1 inch diameter, and tall weeds. I was hoping to peg the goats down on a lead so they can work away at said areas, and then have them "wander around" but we will have a large veggie garden. Are you saying I will need to fence it in? Can I not train them to leave it alone (maybe a squirt gun? or unpleasant noise, or electric collars.) Please dont lynch me for suggesting electric collar. I havent done much research, just thinking aloud. Dont own a dog, so Im just putting some ideas out there.
