Hi, I have a hen with one watery eye, with kind of a white foamy stuff coming out of the corner. I've treated her so far with 10 days of water soluble antibiotics, and at first it seemed to start to clear up but now it's starting to come back on day 10 of the antibiotics. What else can I do!? I'm new to having chickens and have no clue what else to try. Thanks!

Welcome to BYC. Does your hen have any other signs of a respiratory infection such as sneezing, coughing, runny nose, noisy breathing, or swelling around the eye or face? Could she have been pecked around the eye? I would switch to Tylan 50 injectable, and either give her a shot in the breast once a day for 3 days, or give it orally twice a day for 5 days. Dosage is 1/4 ml for bantams, 1/2 ml for standard chicken up to 5 lb, and 1 ml for over 5 pounds. A Tylan injection should be given with a 22 gauge needle, and only insert the needle 1/4 inch straight into the fullest part of the breast muscle. If Tylan 200 is all that you can find, it is 4 times as strong as 50, and the dosage would only be 1/4 of the 50.

She has no other medical issues except for the eye problem. She appears to be completely fine otherwise, and eating just fine. Should I still give the injectible with no other issues except the eye problem?
