Advice needed: Air sac at narrow end & piped at wide end

I think that's it exactly. There was no air sac at the wide end so she pip'do through the shell when she did her internal pip. The good news is that she now has air- I just worry about the membranes drying out since my Bator doesn't have manual humidity control.

The good news is that I dodged the "narrow end pip" bullet. Now I worry about humidity and position.

If your humidity is up and you're not opening the bator she should be ok. They do let off a bit of moisture when they start hatching and usually the humidity rises a little naturally. Are any of your other eggs doing anything?

The other egg that is due pip'd externally a few hours ago. That's probably the timetable I should calibrate to :)

27 hrs after external pip.... she's here!

I was a wreck the entire time and finally assisted her at the 25 hr mark (removed shell where the zip line should have been). I don't know if she could have done it alone or not but she was more than ready!

We've named her "Tricky" after a simultaneous internal & external pip at the opposite end of the air sac... and apparent attempts at zipping vertically instead of horizontally.

Thanks for your help & coaching!

Awesome!! Nice name too!! lol She knew what she was doing. She knew the air cell should have been at the big end....lol It was the egg's fault!! Glad to see she's here! How is the other one?? (I would have helped by 25 hours too.

Despite the majority opinion....lol)

Thanks! The other egg had an external pip 12 hours ago and getting bigger by the hour. She's working on starting to zip. Seems like she started getting serious once she heard Tricky. My only concern about egg #2 was that it is very porous... but she's made it this far so those fears are gone.

It was amazing to (finally) watch Tricky hatch. She could hear us though the bator and would start working every time she heard us cheering for her. So sweet.

Hearing other chicks really do motivate them. #2 should be out in no time then. Most of mine were anyway, once they started zipping.
