I believe I have two machetes up at the house. Used to use them for bringing down firewood branches..... But found that a baseball bat worked better.... made a much more satisfying Thump....
Chapparal here is mostly Ribbonwood AKA Red Shank the lighter green, and Chamise the smaller darker green. Ribbon wood sacrifices branches when there is no water. YOu can tell when te bark peels off and the wood is grey. Excellent fire wood aged on the plant.
I dont say tree because in the best of conditions it will grow to about fiteen feet tall but some places it only gets about six feet tall.
