Tiny garden and neighbours living close; Should I keep chickens?

Thanks! :) 3 full sized chickens it is. Would orpington, faverolle and wyandotte (one of each) be decent choices? There are so many gorgeous breeds out there, its really hard to pick just one..

As for giving them the full garden/yard; what should I do when I leave for work? If I understand you correctly you're suggestion to not build a run, but Im not sure how safe Id feel about leaving them out in the garden when Im not at home? Building a tall, sturdy fence is unfortunately not legal in this area (nor could I afford it; certain things are ridiculously expensive in my country, and fencing is one of them :( ) so I was thinking a run would be a safe place for them when Im not around.. (though, space wise I certainly wouldnt mind saving those extra square metres!)

If you are worried about predators, reinforce the inside of the existing perimeter fence with fencing material. But that can be expensive. I say not to confine them because of mainly the feces. A yard that small could not take a three chickens in a little spot. You also do not want the birds to smell at all so neighbors do not complain. If the yard is interesting they will not want to leave.

Yeah.. fencing is the biggest issue it seems. Atm there are no fences here at all. Not many people have them here. I was thinking of making a hedge with tuhja plants and then put up some kind of temporary/moveable fence inside, because with the rocky ground and high prices here I think a permanent fence would be several thousand dollars, even for such a small garden. Maybe an electrified net sort of fence would do?

Yeah, that sounds good. Maybe a good enough shock would discourage dogs. Do you think any neighbors would mind chickens?
