It's crazy how fast they grow! These are the 3 we kept from this hatch. The one on the left is a pure Silver Laced Wyandotte and the 2 on the left are the Cyandotte-cauna crosses. I'm amazed at how much larger the crossed birds are compared to the pure Wyandotte. We compared the crosses to last years notes on the Wyandotte and it's confirmed --they are indeed a bigger bird than their parents. Well, at this stage anyway. The one on the far left I believe is going to be a roo. The other 2 are pullets. We intend to add this trio to our permanent flock in a couple months. (all identity comments refer to the first pic... they moved around a couple times in the other 2 shots, heh)










 
Here's 2 of the 3 birds we kept from this hatch back at the end of February 2015. The one on the left is a male, and the one on the right is a female. Both of these are BLSW-'cauna cross birds. (the 3rd keeper is a pure BLSW female... she's just camera shy) I was thinking the future roo would show more gray feathers. If you look close, you can see a splash of brown on his wings. The 2 ladies will grow up to join our egg layer flock. They are now big enough to be off the heat lamp so we moved them to their new "apartment" out in the coop with the rest of the flock. This way they get to know their relatives and they get some shelter from the usual pecking order. These 3 look sooo much smaller than the adult birds... at least for now anyway. The other pic is one of our adult birds. I had just gathered eggs and she thought she could move in since the space was empty. She's not broody per see, but if she thinks there's a parking space, get out of her way!
