Hi! My name is Sandlyn. I've been a chicken owner for 10 years. Currently I have 14 eight month old Columbian Plymouth X Red hens. I also have a dog. She's a Chow Collie cross. I live in rural Manitoba Canada on 5 acres. This summer I'm planning on purchasing two baby Pygmy goats. I'm hoping for some info on housing goats with chickens on my small acreage.

Hello and welcome! I can't help you on chickens with goats. I can tell you that they get along fine with my three mules. The mules did try and stomp the chickens, but chicken don't run in a predictable escape direction, or, at a constantly velocity, so, the mules gave up trying. Everybody now gets along just fine.

Sorry I don't know anything about goats but, have seen photos now and then on BYC with chickens on a goats back. I would think the chickens would try to eat goat feed and vice versa.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. You should post on our sister site, Backyard Herds at http://www.backyardherds.com/. Someone there should be able to answer any questions you may have about goats. Please feel free to ask any questions here that you may have about chickens. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Oh Pygmies are a fun goat to keep!! I used to keep them and they are such entertaining characters!!

I have never kept them with chickens however some people do. You might stop by our Other Livestock section of the forums and post there...https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/22/other-pets-livestock

I hope someone can help you there.

Welcome to our flock!
