This is a thread for people hatching out silkies this year. Feel free to join in whenever you want.
I set 18 blue/splash eggs on New years day (i also have barnyard mix for a friend in the bator). At the 1 week mark all silkie eggs were showing signs of development, so i am pretty excited. Next candling is Thursday. I also had a hen decide to go broody a couple of days ago, so i may bring her inside and let her sit on a few more eggs.

It just happens that I'll have some Silkies due to hatch on Wednesday (the 14th). The eggs are underneath my first time, broody Serama, Nilly. The last time I candled them, I saw one of the chicks wiggle it's toes! :D there are 3 eggs expected to hatch, however one was put in a few days later. I might have to bring out my incubator for that one.

I'm in :D
I've got 5 blue/black/splash Silkie or Sizzle eggs due the 13th (along with 10 shipped EE eggs). I think one of the Silkie eggs has quit, but I left it in the incubator for now. I'll probably start collecting another batch of Silkie eggs to start a few days after these are done :)

This is so awesome. I have 10 or so due on Saturday. I am excited. Candled them tonight and all the air cells are big. I alao have Polish and EE in there. 27 in total. This is my first time with silkies. I rescues a 4 to 5 week chick and fell in love. She is about 12 weeks now.

She is so spoiled and I can't wait to spoil all the rest.

I candled last night (day 11) and it looks like all 18 are still doing well. I even got to watch some dancing chicks. I had to to throw out one of our friends barnyard mix eggs, so she is down to 15.

I had 2/5 Silkies (and 5 EEs) hatch, not as great as I was hoping for, but they're cute as can be! Will post pics when they're in the brooder. They're still hanging out in the incubator, 2 are still fluffy out and getting they're land legs :)

1 little black Silkie hatched today early around 6:00 am! She's staying snug under my broody Serama, Nilly. I've never hatched a Silkie before, but they're adorable!
Sadly, I don't think that the other two eggs are going to hatch. :( But there's still time, so we'll see....

Yay a hatch a long I can join! I set 35 silkie eggs on January 1st, so they should be hatching on the 22nd. One batch is from a local lady who seemed to have nice lines, and two batches from a lady in WI who has "paint showgirls , black show girls , regular blacks and paints" and the other batch from the same lady is "assorted colors, most bearded and vaulted" so who knows what we will wind up with?
I have candled and removed all the duds and am left with 29 good developing eggs:
