The story that never ends.

Then, the pelgrane fell dead in the road in front of them. Jago descended, and Fairfax quickly jumped on her back.

Fairfax hung onto the eagle tightly. She said," I was so scared for you! I felt so guilty that because of me, your life had been put in danger." Jago flew up high and effortlessly. She chuckled softly at Fairfax's words. "Young one, I guess Thoran has not told you then. We are spirit guardians, which means we live mostly in the spirit world. We are all immortal, there is truly nothing of this world can actually kill us. Perhaps weaken us, for a short time." Jago explained. Fairfax thought about that a moment, then became curious about something. " But Thoran is my spirit animal and you are not. What I mean to ask is, why are you helping me, then?" The massive eagle was silent for a while, then simply stated, " I owed Thoran a debt of gratitude, one from long ago. That is why I'm helping you, he asked me to. Now where are we going to next Fairfax?" Fairfax carefully pulled out the map and gave Jago the directions.

''The cave of Daelite,'' sighed Jago. ''I have always heard about it.'' ''Yes, but now we're going to see it,'' said Fairfax. As they walked into the cave, they saw bones of evil, but also beautiful and bright crystals of good which shone and seemed to light up the cave. ''Remember, there is a horrible beast guarding the cave,'' said Fairfax. Jago nodded.

They're a little ways into the cave, when Fairfax noticed that a tingling was starting all over her skin. She looked back at Jago in question and the eagle nodded and said. "Yes, I feel that as well. What do you think it is?" Fairfax shook her head and stated, "I have no idea, but these crystals seem to be pulsating now, so maybe they have something to do with it. What do you think it means?" She'd barely finished that statement, when all the lights from the crystals went out. There was silence and darkness for a moment, then a deep raspy voice asked, " Who are you, to come and trespass upon my domain? Answer best wisely or you......

...shall go into this hole, where you may find out what is inside." Jago called out: "I am a spirit guardian and this is my friend, Fairfax." "And who is she?" the horse voise responded. Jago and Fairfax looked at each other in the dark. "You do not know what she is?" said the beast. "No," they both said. "Then why, oh why, did my crystals go out?" cried the voice. Fairfax thought hard. "I am...

a conduit. I absorb powers and redirect them. I sometimes don't even know I do it." Fairfax said softly. "If that is so, then give me back my crystals light. Then I'll believe you're not evil." Fairfax concentrated very hard and the crystals started lighting one by one. "There is your proof, I'm not evil." She said softly.
