@Lyss Yup! We used to feed them leaf by leaf, but they seem to like crunching through the whole head so much more. Earlier this morning, they munched through a head in less than a minute and I thought to myself, that was crazy... bet it would look funny sped up. So a couple hours later, they got another head in front of the camera. You can tell this was their first feeding this winter.

That was hilarious, I have 31 coming at me when I bring out the romaine so I quickly put it in the hanging piece of fence on the tree to keep from being eaten with it.

You have chickens (sharper beaks) and geese (much bigger bills) plus the numbers. I just have 13 ducks so I watch out for Tevye and Snow (the biggest) and remember to keep my thumb tucked. So far I still have all 10 fingers

That's good to know I'd hate to hear they ate a couple. lol How are the flock doing down at the park?

You asked, so this is your fault

While I don't know too many of the individual ducks at the park (I have a hard time telling our two rouen girls apart sometimes, a thousand mallards is rough!), as a whole, they were much happier this last weekend. Maybe they were more active because it was warmer, or maybe the less aggressive ones are figuring out that we leave lots of little feed stations around so they get a chance too, but we nearly cleared the pond this time. We were able to inventory 4 Pekins, 2 Swedish and a Buff duck on the "abandoned list". Saw several wood ducks this time and of course the geese.



This is our favorite goose. It is either a light Toulouse or a dark Buff I think, but my wife has dubbed it the "Tevye goose" because like our crested boy, this goose isn't super aggressive taking lettuce, it just eats some then looks at you like you haven't fed it yet and it is waiting for its turn and it it expects that this trick will work forever.

This one was cropped, but was absolutely not retouched. I think it has a surreal quality that looks more like a painting than a photo.







Some of these are pretty low resolution because they were cropped from bigger pictures, but I still thought they came out pretty good for using a cell phone over the top of a chain link fence.

We definitely get our $17 worth of enjoyment from these birds, then go home and spoil ours more
