BYC Café

Hey, Margie, (pun intended) hot as hades here today. In the 90's with humidity right up there. Worked some dogs early, mowed lawn and watered my tomatoes. Now I am vegetating.

Most dogs with drop ears have problems at some point. Have to keep on it and clean them regularly.

Had Cockers ,used to clean their ears out with alcohol on qtip once a week. They usually didn't have a problem , When they did, used Panalog.

Never have had ear problems with three goldens. Pretty much had on again/off again problems with some of the beagles until I switched to grain free food.

Thanks for the coffee, WV.

Thanks guys.

And wow, never sour!?

I think I remember you saying that before but I wasn't sure but I told my dad anyway and he says if it's really never he wants the breeder :lau

And yeah, I thought it might be diet but he says all his goldens and everyone he's ever known with a golden has had ear problems. I said I'm sure they haven't been on good food (our last dog was on terrible ones, this dog is the first that's been on good), but he said he's sure some of them have tried that. He seems to think it's because Goldens are so inbred their ear canals are smaller and trap bacteria in it and don't dry. And also when they go swimming the water gets stuck, due to his smaller ear canal theory, and doesn't drain out and creates a cess pool of bacteria and grossness in their ears. He also wanted to know if yours swim.

Enjoy the coffee (or tea) this morning!

Morning! I hope everyone has a wonderful day. My Double Dear DH helped me unload and stack the hay after the afternoon showers decided to clear up a bit. We are supposed to get some serious rain with a high of 68 on Sat and a low of 52. My squash are having issues this summer with the cool nights, maybe they could use a cup of coffee too!

Kelsey, 3 goldens - three different breeders. All loved the water, but did not swim on a daily basis.

Scott, supposed to be a real horrible day here today weather wise. Going to fertilize tomatoes and flowers this morning, and then we are going to a movie this afternoon.

Wow that's amazing!

Personally I think his theories a little extreme/mean (theyre not inbred are they? Maybe he meant a different term).

Maybe they bred the problem out? Or it maybe it was never as a big a deal as he's making it to be anyway?

So even when yours swim you don't have problems?
