Ours attracted herons, red-tailed hawks and snappers.
We lost several fish to the hawk.
I pulled many baby snappers out of our skimmer and the water fall area.
We caught a much larger snapper lumbering towards the pond one day. After some very careful leach removal, he got relocated to the creek about 1 mile up stream.
I think we'll have lots of turtles in the new pond if this guy is any indication. I took this picture in the neighbor's driveway across the road from us.

I had a similar pond in FL. Dug it mostly myself. 13'x13' and 3 feet deep in the deep end, only 1 foot deep in the shallow end.
