BYC Café

I'm sure the praise was well-earned Sour, yay for the Princess! Hope today is better :hugs

Same reviewer called her character 'obnoxiously endearing'. I told the Princes type casting always works.

We're okay. It seems weird to not have to save some of my lunch for Dani, and breakfast is tough for Elaine because she and Dani used to share each morning. I just completed a thank you note to the vet - that made me a bit emotional, but I had to let him know how meaningful it was to us that he stayed, and she did not die alone in a cage.

Another hot one today, I'm just glad I'm not in the valley, they are expecting to have heat indexes of 115°F to 120°F...we're suppose to be a cool 102°F to 104°F. Also a 'Health Advisory' due to the stagnate air.

I had a bath instead last night and put ice cubes in it to cool it off :gig

Oh geeze you guys... double kersplat. :th:th

Your vet is a good man, to keep her company throughout the night.

Here's another indication of the sort of man he is. After Hurricane Sandy his practice was without power for 3 weeks. With no money coming in he provided full pay for a staff of 3 veterinarians and 5 veterinary technicians. I am honored to consider him a friend.

Gloria, the vet here is a bit like that. She specialised in fowl when she finished her degree.
She very rarely saw much apart from cats and dogs until I turned up.:p
Lots of vets would just turn you away, or charge you a fortune. She knows I'm poor and she knows how much I care about the chickens. While it's true she's not up on any of the latest studies regarding chickens and her surgery doesn't have much of the modern equipment one might find in modern high tech practices, she does her utmost to help.
I would have been seriously stuck without her. What vet would give you stitching lessons, or just provide drugs with a phone call?

Shad the vet's here were pitiful. No matter what I brought in - they'd say they never saw that before. The last vet ,over an hour away, was highly recommended by dog show folks. He was one of the worst.

That is a major reason I didn't continue breeding. I needed a vet(s) that could do more than give vaccinations.

Had in whelp female(first litter) knew she was pg but didn't go into labor, just thrashed around in circles. Took her to vet. He kept her. As soon as we got home he called to say she had one puppy. We turned around and went straight back.

He brought out an ice cold puppy. Guess it never occurred to him that it needed to be under a heat lamp or on a heating pad. Tried slow warming in the car. She died a short time after we got home.

Hey Sean, do you guys get actual cold showers in Summer? We don't, once whatever was in the pipes in the house comes out, the water is body temp at best. I had a bath instead last night and put ice cubes in it to cool it off :gig
Yeah, my well is 450' deep, pipes to the house are buried 2' so the water coming out the cold side of the faucet is 68°F. The outside water hoses have about 130°F coming out of them until it gets flushed out.

That is really sad!

My puppy came home today!
