Speaking of dinner ...

I'm going to start feeding the dogs raw again. I asked my friends that hunt if anybody could give me deer spleen, liver and heart. I got my first set yesterday day and cut it and bagged it tonight.
There's enough organ meat here to go into about 50 lb of raw food. And it's all natural, no antibiotics and fresh!

Good afternoon folks! Winter has FINALLY arrived in Nova Scotia - had to scrape my windshield this morning for the first time this season.

My stitches come out this afternoon and I'm looking forward to being able to wear mitts again without the worry that I'll be pulling on the stitches.

In VA, i had to scrape my windshield weeks ago. But we have not had snow on the ground yet.

Good morning! It is going to be a busy day!
Orca, the mountain people around here will remind you to NEVER put both hands into a carcass. It can be a long hike out.
In a pinch, yarrow leaves, crushed or chewed, can stem the bleeding.

Ironically both hands were outside the carcass (was flensing the whale). Haha. I've done this for 15 years and this is my first slip up, but I will definitely be more careful for now on 😉

The blood stopped fairly quickly thankfully - I will look for yarrow leaves next time to help. Finding someone to stitch it up on the other hand was a nightmare. We have a serious shortage of doctors here and most of the local ERs were closed, so it took me about 6 hours to get it looked at unfortunately.
