BYC Café

DH has come back to reality! His fever is gone, he's stopped twitching and jerking, he can focus on me, speak (very croaky), knew who I was and said my name!! He smiled and laughed. He's back to him!

He is hungry and thirsty as he should be because he hasn't eaten or drunk anything in over 48 hours. The doctor is brining in someone to evaluate him for the safest way to start him eating and drinking again because he is high risk to aspirate.

Oh. And he does NOT have pneumonia. It was the UTI infection causing the behavior shift and combativeness. The wet coughing I've been listening to is because he isn't breathing very deeply. But they are going to work on getting him sitting up and moving a little then eating and drinking. When I left to he was sleeping normally instead of looking like he was in a drugged state.

What a huge relief.

Fabulous!

Good morning Cafe. Coffee is ready.

This morning when I was feeding the flock, cluck-cluck-clucking broody Astrid came out of the coop and gave a great flap of her wings. I continued about my business and the next thing I know is she is going to town on McKenzie. I mean grabbing her anywhere she can with her beak and flogging her. And McKenzie was trying to fight back. More than likely, Kenzie tried to give Astrid crap because she's broody. If Astrid isn't the head hen, she's damn close to the top. You don't go after the queen without consequences.

Alecia, the SLW I've been treating (who seems to be getting better BTW) I've called Aunt Alecia for a while because she likes to follow mothers and their chicks around and will defend broody moms. She ran into the ruckus to break it up but Kenzie managed to duck under a hanging trough and get on the other side from Astrid so Astrid let it go and started to take a dust bath.

Chicken drama is so cool!

Good morning and thanks for the coffee! DL, good news for your DH! Hugs!

I have been gardening. Got the tomatoes planted in their water walls until we get more of a cover on their raised bed. The smoke is so thick out there that it is blotting out the sun.

I am getting 30 chickens next month in an, 'Owner Must Move" situation.
Sigh... feed comes with, eggs bought back. That ought to create some new drama around here! I am putting them in half of the sheep barn until they settle and pass muster. Maybe the owner will find a place, fingers crossed!

Enjoy the day, Cafe!

Watching fish is hypnotic! That and the sound of water together... what a soothing thing that will be.
When I hear the sound of water in the aquarium it means it is time to clean and refill ;)

It was the UTI infection causing the behavior shift and combativeness.
Wow, what a trial. FIL has had several UTIs lately in the full care facility at the retirement community. He has Parkinson's, still all there mentally. He doesn't get combative but just becomes a rag. When they figure it out and get antibiotics in he recovers to his current self. MIL thinks they might have been caused by the overnight external catheter (never knew there was such a thing) but he is against having an internal one.

I hope they keep an eye on the possibility of your DH having future UTIs, they can cause all sorts of problems.
:hugs
