BYC Café

We’ve got a huge forest fire burning only 14km away from where I am in Halifax right now… a couple dozen houses have been lost from the reports. Out of control, wind isn’t helping. Jumped between the two red circles within an hour. I should be safe here, but on fire watch for now. Air quality is awful outside and blackened burnt pine needles are raining down on the deck. I’m where the blue dot is.

I used to live in Brookside! MIL still lives there.

Good morning Cafe! Thanks for the coffee DL!

Reports are that over 50 homes have been lost here. Still out of control, but better than yesterday at this point. Lots of folks have lost pets or could not return to the area to get them. Horses were let loose and they are trying to find them today. Some people with trailers are being let into specific areas of the evacuation zone to collect loose horses. Most schools in that part of HRM have been cancelled for the day as no one knows exactly what the day will bring. Unfortunately it is quite windy.

and I still miss her more than is reasonable.
I agree that you miss her but not that you mss her more than is reaonable.

Gonna get in the high 80's all next week, tho cooling at night and low humidity at peak temps. I hate the hot weather :(
Same here, mid 60s at night 85 for highs. Also hate hot weather. Of course many here would say that 85°F isn't hot.

My mother is no longer in pain. She met up with dad a little after 2 in the morning. We're all happy that it's over for her and now we can start healing.
I'm sorry for your loss Tonya but so happy you reconciled beforehand. :hugs

My sister was in no condition to go with me to our appointment to pick out a burial site. So my niece went instead. We picked a spot in a sunny meadow for them. We will have a natural stone engraved and placed over the site. I will also plant some native flowers there. I don't know when we're going to do this though.

I have brewed a pot of coffee.
Sorry for your loss. I guess you have joined the generation of the oldest living in the family. Hugs.
