Wheezing hens no other symptons.

I have a welsummer bantam who is wheezing and has a pale comb, but I have always assumed the comb is because she has just finished molting(a couple of weeks ago).
She came to me in June 2014 with a light sussex bantam who had nasal discharge apron arrival and was quite lethargic. I called the breeder and she said they fake illness so they don't get picked on by The rest of the flock! Anyway after a couple of months( no change in the light sussex) I decided to separate her from my small flock of 4( I left the welsummer in) none of the others were showing any symptoms. Anyway when I went away my chicken sitter out her back in!! Anyway when I came home I took her straight tout again, she was only in there for a couple of days. 2 months later a fox got in and killed the light Sussex( who was separate. This was in October. Anyway the rest of them were all okay. For about two weeks I have noticed the welsummer bantam starting to wheeze, only on I half of the breath though( don't know if it is breathing in or breathing out) with no other symptoms apart from not enjoying the slightly colder weather.(0c) I am going to add some ACV to their water tommorow. And any other advice is appreciated.

It may be a chronic respiratory disease, such as mycoplasma (MG.) You could treat her with Tylan 50 injectable 1/4 ml orally, given daily for 5 days to treat symptoms or to prevent secondary infections. You should consider all of your flock carriers, and close your flock. You could get her tested to find out the exact disease. MG can come back or show up whenever birds are stressed, such as in winter.

In the UK you can only get antibiotics prescribed by a vet witch I can afford right now so should I cull her? MG is fast acting isn't it? The other one had it for months before being eaten by a fox.

Since your others are also carriers, you could try to treat her and try to help her get better. Culling is your personal choice. If you depopulate the whole flock, clean your facilities and disinfect equipment, wait a few weeks, then buy healthy birds, you can get rid of the disease.

I don't know if it is MG though? The others are showing no symptoms and isn't MG very fast moving?

It really helps to get a chicken tested. Or simply close your flock to new birds coming in or any going out of the flock, until all are gone. MG isn't as fast spreading as some diseases, such as infectious bronchitis.

She is not wheezing all the time though. Only once in a while I hear her, and in other ways seems fine. I have added ACV to the water and we will see what happens. Thanks

Scary that this person you bought them from tells you that chickens "fake illness so they don't get picked on by the flock"!! I would stay far, far away from that person!! She is either very, very ignorant or she is trying to cover her butt for selling sick birds.

Unfortunately ACV is not going to have any effect on whatever this is your flock has now.

I know,ridiculous! Apparently ACV helps clear mucus so if it is just a small problem it should help I will also give them some vitamins in there water to help then fight whatever it is.
