my coop is a dog kennel like that, and I'm currently using a snoopy dog house for my 3girls and it works great! Mine is on the ground so they can scratch when they don't get out.

oh forgot have read on here that sometimes a metal roof holds heat in the summer months so be careful. Mine has chicken wire covering the top secured with bailing wire. There is also a tarp over part of the top for rain. Good luck!

Your 2x4 should be turned 90 degrees for optimal strength in supporting the roof.
An angled/slanted roof will shed water better.

Not sure what your climate is.....putting your location in your profile will help folks make more viable suggestions.

Chain link kennels are not predator proof....large gaps at junctions coons can squeeze thru..... mink, weasels, rats can go right thru mesh.

Also if u can use those 2x4 for something else and replace with treated. Always use treated lumber. Eventhough it dose not get wet regular wood will rot. Nevermind I see it's all non treated. At least paint it to seal it.
