Anyone impatiently waiting for your baby chicks to arrive?!?!

Top, our new arrivals, hopefully all pullets. Middle, Our cat Dayze and our Lab Merlin inspecting the new arrivals. Bottom, Dayze again and our Jack Russell Sparky.

Beware of letting those 4 legged critters around the brooder without having adult supervision. My cats would have easily tipped the brooder or heat lamp over if I didn't police them.
Ditto that, also secondary infection a chick can get from a scratch of a cat. Instincts those fur babies have. I know if my cats were still alive one would be trying to hunt and the other would be lazy laying next to the cage sleeping. It's the little peeping noise that seems to really interest cats and dogs.

Such cute little chicks. I just placed a order online for goslings, but got a message they won't arrive till April. I really don't want to wait, and seeing all these cute little fuzzy heads don't help.

Believe me neither the cat or dogs are allowed in there without adult supervision. Not taking any chances.

I'm using cardboard boxes in a dog cage for a brooder. I have cats and dogs. Wondering where to keep the chicks at bedtime? Where does everyone keep their brooders?

I can't wait for mine. I ordered 6 baby chicks from my pet chicken but a local hatchery that I just found out about has all the breeds I want so I might cancel and pick them up locally since it's only a 30 minute drive.
